Girish originally qualified from the University of Bangalore (India) followed by postgraduate training in Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the University of Kerala (India). He passed his IQE (International qualifying examinations) of the General Dental Council of the UK in 2005.

Following his extensive training and work in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (hospital-based) he was awarded a Specialist status in 2006 by the General Dental Council. He has a membership of The Faculty of Dentistry of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and Fellow of the Faculty of Dentistry of The Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine). Girish has worked as a hospital specialist in Oral Surgery at Victoria Hospital Fife for over 15 years dealing with complex oral surgery patients and also being involved in training junior dentists.

He has a special interest in Dental implantology where he provides replacement of missing teeth of varying complexity. He conducts many face-to-face and online training programs to train dental surgeons and also provides mentoring services to apply skills in this niche area of dentistry.

Girish is closely involved in teaching and training dentists in Oral Surgery. Apart from providing routine General Dentistry and Oral Surgery he manages anxious patients with simple and advanced techniques including intravenous sedation.

Referrals from dentists for minor oral surgery, sedation and dental implants are accepted. The referral service has run for over 9 years and is well-recognised in the Lothian area.

Girish is a Fellow and Diplomat of ICOI awarded in 2013. ICOI is one of the world’s largest bodies of Oral Implantologists. It is awarded for the Implantologists meeting the advanced credentialing requirements and commitment to achieving high standards in implant dentistry. He is actively involved in training programs in Oral Surgery and Implantology both independently and through NHS Education.

Girish has many publications in lead journals nationally and internationally and lectures widely. He is a reviewer for lead journals in Oral Surgery. He directs and trains dentists in Implantology which has been accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

He is a member of the Association of Osseointegration, the Association of Dental Implantology UK, the British Association of Oral Surgeons and a Fellow of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
